ANNA BOGATIN OTT

THE SOLE INTENT FOR MY ART IS TO BRING MORE BEAUTY AND HAPPINESS INTO THE WORLD

1970 Born in former Soviet Union (Ukraine) 1970 through 1992 Lives in Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland 1992 Immigrates to the USA. Anna Bogatin Ott acquired fundamental traditional skills in art schools in Russia and further developed as an artist in the US. Experimenting with diverse media she brings attention to the beauty and order that exist within nature. Her art reflects a belief in the importance of balance between our animal instincts and intellectual aspirations, and explores our eternal longing for freedom and happiness. Buddhism, aesthetic philosophy Wabi Sabi, Indian Tantra drawings, Aboriginal art, as well as the work of the American Abstract Expressionists such as Barnett Newman and Agnes Martin has been an important influence. Her visual imagery derives from her experiences in nature, and photographs of nature that she takes daily. The art making for her is a spiritual activity, that is based on universal values and truths, which is being expressed through the universal language of abstraction. With her work she strive to give the viewer an experience of a serenity and calm, a safe, private space to contemplate, to heal, to connect to a larger whole.
